The Toronto Chapter was founded in 2006 by Richard Lam and Daniel Forest. Over the years, the Toronto Chapter has hosted distinguished speakers such as: Michael Lee-Chin, founder and Chairman of Portland Holdings Inc.; Calvin McDonald, Former-President and CEO of Sears; Tony Fell, Former Chairman of RBC Capital Markets; and Michael Wilson, Chairman of Barclays Capital Canada.

Syed Saif (President)

Syed Saif is an Analyst at BDC Venture Capital working with the Co-Investments and Diversified portfolio team. Syed received a Bachelor of Arts (Joint Honors in Economics and Finance) degree from McGill University. He is also a candidate for the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.

Roz McLean

Roz Mclean is an Associate at Burgundy Asset Management Ltd. in the International/U.S. Institutional Client Group. Roz graduated from the University of Western Ontario in April 2014, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and English. She is a Level II candidate in the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) program and is a member of the Young Leaders group for the St. Michael’s Foundation.

Jeremy Abitbol

Jeremy Abitbol is an Analyst at Gluskin Sheff where he works with the Client Wealth Management team, is a member of the Firm's Asset Mix team and a is also a registered Portfolio Manager. Jeremy received a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance) degree from McGill University. He has also earned his Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation. Prior to joining Gluskin Sheff in 2015, Jeremy was a financial analyst at CI Financial. He was also part of the Client and Advisor services group at CI Investments.

Jake Irwin

Jake is a partner at McCarthy Tétrault LLP and focuses on Corporate Finance and M&A. He completed a BA (Honors) in International Relations at Trinity College University of Toronto and a JD at Queen’s University.

Paul McKinlay (Past-President)

Paul is a Vice President at Wellington Financial LP, a specialty private venture finance fund. He is a CFA and CAIA Charter holder and is a Bachelor of Commerce from Ted Rogers School of Management from Ryerson University. Paul is currently based in California.
