Young Canadians in Finance, in partnership with FASKEN, are proud to invite you to our Breakfast Series featuring women in finance: "Women Lead". We will have the pleasure of welcoming Sophia Maizel, Principal at HarbourVest.

Our goal is to spark open and candid discussions between pioneering women in finance and young leaders of tomorrow. "Women Lead" aims to promote the transfer of knowledge and experience from one generation to the next, as well as stimulate discussions on opportunities in finance while celebrating and featuring each speaker invited to these meetings.

We hope to see you there! *Note that this event is designed for all, not only those who identify as female.

Sophia Maizel has over 12 years of private markets investing experience. She joined HarbourVest in 2015 and has been involved in building the firm’s Canadian office. In her capacity as Principal on both the firm’s global Direct and Fund investment teams, Sophia leads transactions including origination, evaluation and monitoring, primarily at the venture, growth and growth-buyout stages. She serves on the Canadian Investment Committee for HarbourVest. Sophia serves on the boards of several early stage technology companies and on the limited partnership advisory committees for private market Funds. 

Sophia joined the Firm from Export Development Canada, where she was a direct and fund investments associate working in the private equity investments team. Her previous roles include operations at an early stage technology company. She received a BA in Economics and Finance from McGill University in 2012, and in 2017 she received the Chartered Financial Analyst designation. Sophia has served on several committees of the Canadian Venture Capital Association and is a mentor with Canadian Women in Private Equity (CWPE). She speaks fluent Russian and French.
